Hays County Democratic Party Team
Let’s keep Hays County Blue—together. The strength of our Party doesn’t rest with any one individual; it comes from the united efforts of Hays County Democrats who connect with neighbors, inspire communities, and drive meaningful change across our county.
Meet Our Chair: John Hatch
Meet John – Committed to Keeping Hays County Blue
John launched his political journey 36 years ago after graduating from Texas A&M, beginning as Field Director for Texas Land Commissioner Garry Mauro. He soon led a successful campaign for a Democratic candidate for State Representative in Williamson and Burnet Counties, defeating a two-term Republican incumbent.
He went on to serve as a staff member in the Texas House before becoming Deputy Field Director for the groundbreaking Ann Richards for Governor campaign. Following her historic victory, John spent four years in the Governor’s Office—three in the Criminal Justice Division and one on the Executive Staff. Governor Richards later appointed him Director of the Criminal Justice Division.
In 2003, John and his wife Rebecca launched their political consulting firm. Over the past 20 years, they’ve led more than 450 petition and election campaigns across four states, winning over 84% of them. John is widely recognized as one of Texas’s most successful political consultants, regardless of party.
His current focus is keeping Hays County Blue in 2026 by building on the growing momentum that began in 2018, and continued in 2022 and 2024.
John, Rebecca, and their family have proudly called Hays County home since 1995.
